Abstract

Description

From approximately 1933 through 2010, the Digest of Motor Laws was published annually in book form by the American Automobile Association (AAA). Each American state and Canadian province, as well as the District of Columbia, is addressed in each volume, with coverage of various American and Canadian territories added and eliminated over the years. Chapters on each jurisdiction, which typically run for several pages, were divided into a consistent set of sections, some of which may be omitted depending on jurisdictional applicability. Those in the 1976 (43rd) edition, following contact information for the vehicle registration agency leader, are Motor Vehicle Registration; Driver’s Licenses; Proof of Vehicle Ownership; Personal Property, Sales, and Other Taxes; Traffic Rules; Passenger Car Trailer Information; Accident Reports; Bail Bond; Motorist Liability Laws; Chemical Test Law; Motor Vehicle Inspection; and Highway Patrol. In addition to the 50 states, 10 provinces, and D.C., the 43rd edition includes entries for Canal Zone, Guam, Puerto Rico, and Virgin Islands.
