Abstract

Description

A guide providing the values of the historic passenger license plates of the United States. Each state is presented through a table listing the year of issue of each license plate and a condition rating from 1 (mint) to 5 (fair). Values in U.S. Dollars are then noted for each year/condition combination for which the editor had data. Some combinations are marked as "Rare" to indicate that the license plates exist, but too few have been sold to establish a market value. Some combinations are left blank, such as mint examples of early plates, where there was also insufficient data to draw conclusions on valuation. The editor notes that the book's owner could fill these spaces in at a later date. Notes are provided for years when porcelain license plates, windshield stickers, tabs, and certain other features like undeated plates were issued. An introductory section reviews license plate grading and a concluding section provides advice on the license plate collecting hobby. First edition.
