Describes the passenger and nonpassenger license plates issued by countries and territories of Europe and the Mediterranean world, including geographic codes, type codes, and numbering systems. Also briefly describes the passenger license plates, including codes, issued by other countries and historical data for older European license plates. Includes maps, codes used on diplomatic license plates, international oval codes, notes on various non-Roman alphabets, and information about Transport International de Marchandises par Route (T.I.R.) plates. Uses the following nonstandard or obsolete jurisdictional names: British Honduras, Burma, Cameroun, Congo (Brazzaville), Dahomey, East Germany, Faeroe Islands, French Territory of the Afars and the Issas, Gilbert and Ellice Islands, Ivory Coast, Khmer Republic, Korea, Malagasy Republic, Maldive Republic, Rhodesia, Swaziland, Turkey, Upper Volta, West Germany, Zaire. Successor to “Registration Plates of Europe”; succeeded by “Registration Plates of the World.”
